Following negotiations with the ‘Big Three’ in Paris, Iran agreed to suspend all its uranium enrichment programme until a final long-term agreement is reached
The move by Iran comes as part of a deal with Britain, France and Germany – the so-called Big Three - hoping to ease the heightened tension and dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme.
The Iranian senior negotiator in Europe, “Hossein Mousavian” said, Europeans have been committed to observe Iran's legitimate rights within the frameworks of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
The Paris agreement demands Iran to suspend its Uranium enrichment voluntarily and as a result Iran will not be under any legal obligations, Mousavian added.
It is understood that the three European countries present in the Paris meeting, have offered Iran increased co-operation on trade and energy in exchange for the suspension.
Iran’s decision to suspend uranium enrichment is a positive sign that holds back any possibility of Iran’s case being referered the United Nation’s Security Council.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is scheduled to hold a final meeting next month to conclude a decision on Iran’s nuclear programme.
