The iconography of the dragon in Islamic art

Speaker:
Dr Abbas Daneshvari is Professor of Art History at California State University, Los Angeles. His publications cover various aspects of Persian Art. He is the author of the monographs Animal Symbolism in Warqa and Gulshah, Oxford University Press 1986, and Medieval Tomb Towers, Undena/Mazda 1986. His books Crisis in Contemporary Arts: Modern and Postmodern and The Iconography of the Dragon in Islamic Art are to appear in 2005. Professor Daneshvari is the Editor in Chief for Islamic Art and Architecture of the Mazda press and the editor of several collective publications.
