British Persian Media has been formed and founded by a group of British-Iranian
journalists and academics, hoping to help bridge the cultural distance between
Iran and Britain, and in a more general approach, the West.
We believe we can reach this end through the provision of information to both
countries. This would be the first of its kind as far as the history of these
countries is concerned. In today's world the provision of information is through
unbiased, factual journalism and research.
Apart from journalism and research, which play a crucial and pivotal role in our
objective, we have decided to extend our efforts in the fields of art and tourism
(which are also among the very effective ways of bringing cultures and societies
closer to each other). Unfortunately, there has not been relations of this nature
between these two countries despite the unquestionable positive impact that it
can produce on bilateral social and cultural relations between Iran and West.
We hope this could allow the two nations to become closer with a fairer understanding
of each other's culture.
Having set its agenda in this context, British Persian Media endeavours to
play this role successfully at the best of its capacity and ability.
Below are some testimonials by senior academic and political figures working in the field of British-Iranian relations:
"I think absolutely any independent organisation committed not only to the political, parliamentary side of politics but also to the arts, culture and the overall relations between the two countries is very important. This is very much in their mutual best interest and I
welcome it [British Persian Media] with open arms."
Lord Temple-Morris - Chairman of the British-Iranian All Party Parliamentary Group
"I can support and say that the establishment of an institution like British Persian Media would be a great
step to promoting and strengthening academic and cultural relations between Iran and Britain."
Dr N Fazeli - Associate Professor at University of Tehran, Associate Researcher at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London
"There is not a single independent news agency or media company completely devoted to these two countries. To the
best of my knowledge there is an obvious gap in the news industry for providing correct, first-hand and fresh news about this relationship for public and media organisations in both countries as well as other users. British Persian Media can fill this gap and play an important role to bring these two countries closer to each other for positive bilateral, regional and international co-operation."
Dr M Tafreshi - Historian and Researcher in modern Persian and Shia studies and Anglo-Persian relations. Royal Holloway, University of London, Member of the International Society of Iranian Studies (ISIS), Societas Iranologica Europaea (SIE)
